la sérénité, la clé de l'esprit

In today's society, the line between spirituality and psychology is often blurred. This blurring raises profound questions: What distinguishes a medium from a schizophrenic? For many, the term "medium" evokes associations with extraordinary abilities to communicate with spirits, while "schizophrenic" denotes a mental illness. But what happens when these two worlds collide?

**What distinguishes a medium from a schizophrenic?**

It is crucial to first define these two terms. A medium is often understood as someone who can perceive spiritual realities and interact with beings from other dimensions. Schizophrenia, on the other hand, is a mental disorder characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and disturbances of thought and emotion. Although the perception of voices or beings can play a role in both cases, the key lies in the intention and approach.

The media often claim they can connect with other dimensions, while people with schizophrenia experience voices and visions that are frequently confusing and unwanted. Therefore, it is essential to approach these phenomena with understanding and respect, while also being aware of the psychological impact of these experiences.

Can the phenomenon of voices be interpreted as a media phenomenon?

This question is highly relevant. Indeed, some adults discover psychic abilities after a psychotic episode. In some cases, the voices they heard during their mental illness could be interpreted as an expression of heightened sensitivity to spiritual vibrations. However, it is important to approach this question with caution. Neuroscience demonstrates the influence of neurotransmitters on our perception of reality.

However, some media outlets believe that sensitivity to spiritual realities can be heightened by trauma or mental disorders. For example, a traumatized person might perceive voices more readily, but this does not necessarily mean they suffer from a mental illness.

**Spiritual Stages of a Medium: An Ascension in Consciousness**

Not all mediums are the same. There are different degrees of mediumship. Some mediums are highly intuitive and perceive information without fully understanding its source. On other levels, there are more "advanced" mediums who can convey clear and precise messages, often by entering a trance state.

These levels often depend on life experience, self-reflection, and spiritual experiences. Most mediums begin by developing their sensitivity and intuition before learning to control their abilities. In other words, mediumship is a journey, a process of self-discovery and spiritual awakening.

**Childhood trauma: A trigger for mediumistic abilities?**

Undoubtedly, childhood trauma can play a role in the development of psychic abilities. Many psychics report emotional wounds that served as a starting point for exploring the spiritual dimensions of life. These painful experiences can open doors to deeper insights and a better understanding of the world around us.

Healing from these traumas can also strengthen psychic abilities. By processing their injuries, many people find a way to better understand their gifts. Nevertheless, it is important to pay attention to one's own mental health and seek professional help if necessary.

What influence do psychiatric medications have on spiritual development?

Finally, the influence of psychotropic drugs on spiritual development and mediumistic sensitivity is frequently questioned. Antidepressants, antipsychotics, and other medications can alter brain chemistry and thereby affect the perception of spiritual experiences. In some people, these medications can reduce the intensity of perceptions and make spiritual communication more difficult.

But then it's essential to find a balance. Medication can help stabilize one's mental state and allow for deeper inner exploration. Ultimately, every person is unique, and their spiritual journey is influenced by their personal experiences, challenges, and choices.

Understanding these spiritual and psychological dimensions can help us approach each other with greater empathy. Whether you are a medium or have experienced episodes of schizophrenia yourself, what matters is respecting yourself and others with their diverse experiences. Understanding, empathy, and openness are key to navigating these sometimes closely intertwined worlds. Like mental health, spirituality deserves to be explored with curiosity and kindness.
